Staff

TRICIA BASSINGTHWAIGHTE, center director, pre-K

I am married and have two grown children. I have worked in Early Childhood since 1979. I have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood from Butler Community College. Caring for children is my passion and gift from God.

PAM FORD, lead teacher, nursery

I have one 16-year-old daughter and have worked in the medical field as a certified nurse aide and medical aide for 25 years. For the past five years, I've worked as a pool monitor and lifeguard.

My classroom philosophy is to spread love with everything you do. I absolutely love my job and know I am loved here too.

JESSICA LAYTON, assistant teacher, nursery

I work and learn creatively, which also means I'm an open-minded person. I love working with children and meeting new people. I've worked with children previously by babysitting, working with children at a kids entertainment facility and helping with kids at the community pool.

My classroom philosophy is to treat others how you would like to be treated. I'm super, duper, excitedly thrilled to be working here.

MADISON HARRIS, toddler 1

MELINDA SLAUGHTER, young toddler teacher

I have two grown daughters and two beautiful grandchildren. I studied early child education and had a licensed daycare in my home for years. I also have a background in children's ministry.

My classroom philosophy revolves around providing a fun, safe and exciting environment for children to learn, be themselves and build relationships with others. I have a passion for children, and I love teaching children about Jesus.

DESIREE HERRON, pre-k teacher

I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two children. I have worked at the Andover YMCA in the KidZone, at Mom's Day Out and Parents' Night Out programs. I also worked at Lincoln Elementary as a paraprofessional.

I believe it is key to start each day with a smile, even on the rainy days. The children make it worth coming in each day.

SHAWNEE MILLWARD, toddler teacher

I have owned my own daycare in my home for five years. I love working with children, teaching future generations, seeing them grow and do amazing things with their lives.

My goal is to show children the beauty they possess inside. I couldn't be happier working here. The kids are amazing and my peers are wonderful.

LYNN WARNER, 2 1/2-4 year olds

I live in Augusta and am married with two grown children. I was a stay-at-home mom, then worked at Garfield in early childhood for 12 years.

My classroom philosophy is playing is learning. We will play, learn and grow together. What I love most about  my classroom is whom I share it with!

AMY CORNELISON, school-aged children

I am a full-time student at Butler Community College, studying Music Education, Psychology and German. I have worked with children previously as a babysitter, with Educare and with my church.

I believe that it is important to let children's creativity be a dominant component in their development. Having discussions with children should be the first step before saying "no" and forbidding them from expressing themselves.

TERESA ALBERT, substitute/float

JOANN WALLACE, chef/center aide

I am a retired banker with time on my hands. I love to cook and to give the children lots of love and hugs. I am a member of First Christian Church, an Elder and a member of the NGCLC Steering Committee.

CHARLIE GOUCHER, kitchen aide

JO HELEN OHL, grandparent volunteer
